Candied Daylight - Jennah Bell [#8 - 24:41]
On her Bandcamp, the folk-soul Oakland songstress, describes the song as
“the double-dutch chant heard from the windows of an open classroom window. It is the distant and dreamy siren that steals your concentration. It is in ode and longing for the magic of youth.”
Can’t get any better than that.

The beat hits hard but is layered perfectly with the multi-instrumentalist’s vocals.
Standout lyrics: “I don't play the keys like Alicia/But I rock the boat like Aaliyah/Of course I'ma charge for a feature”

This track delivers an abundance of positive energy and if those opening harmonies don’t captivate you, then I don’t know what to say.
I love everything CHIKA puts out. Also, bonus that Chris McClenney (talented multi-instrumentalist and producer from MD) worked on this project AND played bass during their super dope Tiny Desk Concert. [embedded on the left]
